Motorcycle Repair: bent valve, honda cb650 custom, cylinder compression

Hi Mark,
I just had my 81 Honda CB650 Custom looked at by a mechanic who told me I had a bent 4th value. Can I still ride my motorcycle around like this?

Hi Melissa,

Riding with a bent valve is not recommended.

Serious engine damages may result. Serious injuries may result if the engine seizes while you're in motion.

To verify the mechanic's diagnosis, perform a cylinder compression check and a cylinder leak-down check. These tests will determine the engine's condition.
