Motorcycle Repair: 1975 gl1000 clutch, emery cloth, clutch plate
QuestionI have recently removed the clutch from my 75 gl1000 because it was beginning to grab. I bought the bike about 6 months ago and new that the clutch was tight feeling. Well when i removed the clutch i noticed that the plates have some blue on them like they got hot. I put them on a peice of glass to see if any warping has occured, and it has not. so i am currious if i should replace them or not.
thank you
Ian
AnswerIan, I don't know just how "blue" the are, but if they are still flat, I would sand them with some emery cloth to get a fresh surface.

CLUTCH CHATTER:* Another oldy, affecting only GL 1000s from serial number 1000001 through 1011239. These early clutches had a damper plate installed near one end or the other of the clutch-plate sequence. The cure is to relocate the damper plate to the center of the assembly.
