Motorcycle Repair: CRF250X backfire, mc performance, periodic maintenance

I bought a CRF250X in 07/04. I removed the baffle from the exhaust and have had problems with back firing at high RPM's. I have less thsn 350 miles on it. Do i need to put it back in or should i get the valves checked,also how often do i get the valves ajusted.

Hi Kris,

Replace the baffle to restore proper performance. Install a performance pipe for power and sound. Otherwise, you're de-tuning your MC performance a bit.

Check the Owner's Manual for periodic maintenance. There's a break-in service due very soon.
