Is it safe to put premium (92 Octane) gas in a Honda Shadow Sabre (1100cc)?

Hi Ivan,

Yes. Any grade pump gas will be okay for the Shadow. As a rule of thumb, use the lowest grade that the engine will run well with. There would be a noticable difference as if the engine will not pull its own load while driving. Then, try another grade.

With leaded fuels of the past, engine knocking (detonation) was a concern. Modern engines and fuels are not suspectable to knocking.

Why pay more? It's basically marketing hype.
