Motorcycle Repair: Electricity, trickle charger, battery system
QuestionMark,
This might be a little outside of your area, but my question actually pertains to a go-kart. I have 5 HP mower on a go kart and I would like to put lights on it...it gets dark in Indiana pretty quickly in the fall and I use the kart in the evenings. Do you know what I would need to make that happen?
Thanks
Dallas
AnswerHi Dallas,
I'm outta my league on this, but basics apply across the board. I think a switched battery system would be the easiest way to get lights. Keep a trickle charger on the battery. 12 VDC motorcycle or riding mower battery should do fine.
Finding a source coil or altenator/generator from a riding mower would be the ultimate lighting & recharging setup if enough light output was achieved.
Perform an internet search for accessories for the mower engine used.
I live in Dayton, Ohio...need lights on early here, too. : )
