Motorcycle Repair: triumph exhaust, exhaust sound, maintainence

My Triumph 04 America backfired when starting this morning. 4500 miles on this bike. The question is now the exhaust has a different sound. Exhaust sound is lower, like something blew out. Is this something that needs immediate attention? The bike is still under warranty but I would like some information from someone before I take it back to dealer.

Hi Bud.
 If a bike backfires, it's because the timing is off (usually, only a little).  This is fairly common and needs to be checked and adjusted periodically along with other common maintainence items.  It may be retarded a bit too far.  On most bikes, re-synching the carbs will reset the timing.  I do not know if that is the case on the newer Triumph.
