QuestionI recently bought a 1972 Kawasaki H2 750 "Mach IV" / "Widow Maker" from the Mountains of TN. I live in Myrtle Beach at sea level. The gentleman I bought the bike from said there may be some carb difference because of altitude. I don't know whether this is true or not, but the bike has lost some pull.
I put all new throttle, and choke cables on it and since then, it isn't as scary to ride. What I need to know is basically how to set the carbs and tweek them. The guy I bought it from had an IR Heat gun he pointed at the cylinders, but I don't know enough about carbs to even know what he was doing.
The bike starts on the first kick when warm, and when cold, after a few to get the fuel to the cylinders, so starting isn't a problem, it is more mid to top end.
The carbs I beleive are originals, one thumb screw in the middle and then a smaller flat head further back on the carb. I have the small screw at 1 and 1/2 turns and the larger one at about 2 1/4, I think that is the needle valve. There is quite a bit of smoke comming out of the pipes since I did this, and I know it is a 2 stroke and supposed to smoke, but this I think is a little to rich, but I don't know which screw to turn to fix.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

AnswerHi Greg,
Those H series Kaw MC's were fun.
Heres a link to find the settings for the carburetors: http://kawtriple.com/mraxl/carbspec.html
And another link from the same website: http://kawtriple.com/mraxl/
I'll send some tuning files to your email address.
