Motorcycle Repair: honda 350 SL, honda 350, head gasket
QuestionI am missing one of the locating dowels that go between the cylinders and the head. My manual says there should be four dowels and that o-rings need to be on them. Is that correct? I would think that would interfere with the fit of the head gasket?
thanks george
AnswerGeorge... there are generally 4 dowls used to locate the cylinder head correctly on the cylinder block. The forward ones are sealed with O-rings, due to their job as oil transfer galleys. They may be of different lengths. The forward ones should have large holes in the headgaskets to accomodate the O-rings.
