Motorcycle Repair: 2001 Kaw Vulcan 1500 FI, motorcycle usa, www motorcycle

When ever bike gets hot after long rides at slower speeds when I open it up I get a lot of what sounds like spark knock. I have only 4000 miles on bike and use 93 octane fuel. Also there is a loud knocking when first started about 2-3 minutes until warmed up. Is there any cam chain adjustment on this model?

Hi Dick,

The tensioner is automatic, but could become defective. I would need to hear the sounds to accurately diagnose source. It could be detonation.

Try asking at www.vroc.com and www.motorcycle-usa.com/forum and see if other Vulcan owners have experienced same problem.
