Motorcycle Repair: Compression, copper head gasket, copper sheet

Hi Bill,
re: the Sears 106 1965 Gilera import, that you answered already for me.
I was wondering if I will be able to make a gasket if I have to pull the head?
Also would the compression affect the clutch. Thje bile seems to skip gears ( go from 3rd to 4th automatically)?

Jack, it may have a copper head gasket. If so you may be able to reuse it or make a new one from the same thickness of copper sheet.

Transmission problem not related to compression. If it is skipping gears, the problem could be a bent damaged shift fork or shift drum or selector linkage.

This bike may be taking you down a road that you really don't want to travel....
