QuestionHola,
It's spring and time to take out the mean machine. Unfortunately, in this world there are those female dominated jealous males whose spouse forbids fun, pissed off people...or plain a$$holes.
Which ever one of these types did it...I found my bike parked where I left it, with the dipstick pulled out and sugar crystals around the rim of the oil fill hole. $#@%$^%*&^$* was my first reaction my second was to have the bike towed home, being 80 miles from the nearest tow I RODE IT. It starts and runs ok now but what kind of damage am I looking at here? I'm doing an oil change ASAP (tomorrow). Do you have any advice to fix? Do you know if they make locking oil fill caps/dipsticks?
Best Wishes,
Charles
AnswerHi Charles,
Sorry to learn you and your MC are victims of vandals. I deal with criminals daily with my real job. No wonder cops have attitudes, seeing everything people do to people. It wears on you.
I don't think oil has the effects on sugar like gasoline. It's defenitely not a good oil additive either. Start with a couple of oil and filter changes using econo oil brand.
You should try and contact Mike Guillory by email (bottom of his webpage) cut & paste link:
www.yft.org/tex_vfr/tech/oil.htm
Mike is a chemical engineer and could tell you about sugar in oil. I don't know him personally, but I respect his knowledge.
No known locking filler caps. I prefer .45 cal. up close and .308 from the porch. : )
Keep me posted on what you do and learn.
