Motorcycle Repair: 1996 RM 125, clutch cable, rm 125

MY bike seems to be stuck in 3rd gear took off side cover and shifting  drum seems to turn hard any suggestion on possible causes and should i split the case? thx any info would be helpful

Mechanically, it could be clutch cable or clucth wear, adjustment, or defect. It could be lack of lubrication, bent shifting forks, worn or defective shift drum or linkage, worn or seized bearings, or more.

Split the crankcases if necessary. You or someone will have to verify the problem, cause, and make repairs. Don't do unnecessary work on a hunch. Don't guess and replace parts trying to fix a problem. Learn what the problem is, then repair it.

Investigate thru process of elimination and isolate the porblem. If in doubt, have a shop do the work for you.
