My low oil light came on last week and I went and got my oil changed.  Today I drove my car for the first time in nearly a week,  Intermittently--but more so when I was stopped--the low oil warning came on.  When I started moving the warning went away.  is this an indicator that the sensor needs to be replaced? What are the likely causes?

Hi Philip -

Have you checked the oil level after your oil change? You could either have a leak, or incorrect oil level.

I know this is obvious, but must ask the question.

Otherwise, yes, it could be a defective sending unit, but most of the time they are OK.
