Nissan Repair: My frontier wont start, spark plug wire, desert runner
QuestionI replaced the thermostat on my frontier 4x2 desert runner with the V6, and now it wont start. My plug wires are fine and it didnt overheat before I replaced it, it was only sticking periodically. It started normally before I replaced the thermostat when I was done all it would do is turn over like there is no fire going to the plugs.
AnswerHi Calvin
There must have been something that was disconnected. Remove a spark plug wire and insert a screwdriver in it till it wedges against the metal terminal inside. Hold the shaft of the screwdriver about 1/4" away from any metal surface of the engine and have a helper crank the engine as if to start it. There should be a spark jumping between the metal surfaces. If not, then we have to check for a disconnected wire, perhaps near the distributor.
If there is a spark, then try priming the intake with some fuel and see if that starts it.
Hope this helps -
