Nissan Repair: Nissan Altima 2003, nissan altima, drum brakes

Question
I recently had new back breaks/pads installed in my car. Is it okay for them to smoke and have a wierd smell? We`ve reinstalled them twice already, and still it does the same thing!!!! Help.

Hi Selena -

Do you notice some drag in the brakes? Test by placing the car in neutral on a slight incline. If the car moves, then the brakes are OK. If it doesn't then it is binding and should be repaired.

A little smell is normal,but not the smoke. If it is drum brakes, ensure that the adjustment is slackened off.
