Nissan Repair: datsun 720 ute, datsun 720, engine detonation

Question
i have a datsun 720 ute and when i start the car it has no problems starting but when i go to turn it off the engine continous to run what is the cause of the.
when i remove the two wire that are pluged in the back of the alernator it stops and with them removed it still starts
what could be som causes for this so i can run out what it is

Hi Sam -

This is engine detonation. Is your idle high?
Or it is caused by too much debris in your cylinder head.

Check the idle first - do you have automatic or manual shift, and what is the idle speed?
Should be around 700 for manual, and 750 - 800 automatic in  neutral
