QuestionQUESTION: My Nissan Serena currently have problem with the gearbox. when engaged in D, it seems like the gearbox is sticking, feels heavy / like the clutch is slipping. i also notice a light delay in changing from 1st to 2nd gear. any reasons why?
ANSWER: Hi Need to ask a couple questions -
Have you checked the transmission fluid? If so, what is the color of the oil? Red, Maroon, brown?
Do you lack power when going up hills?
Let me know -

QUESTION: I have no problem in going up hill, just that the gear changes more often to 3rd currently. I have also checked the fluid level and the level is ok, no top up required, however the color is brown. If i change the oil, would this solve my problem? And if the problem persist, what should I do? do you think it is related to the speed sensor?
thanks.
AnswerHi -
If the oil is brown then it is burned. I would change the oil and filter screen first, then if the problem persists, Overhaul the transmission. It would also help if you put in an additive called AT205. It saved a lot of transmissions for me. Carquest has it here, but if you cannot get it, let me know.
Hope this helps -
