I have a Nissan and when i start it there is a small rattling noise on the right side of the engine. When i put it in gear the motor cuts out and then dies. Is something Wrong with my timing?

Hello -

When was the last time you had a tune up? I am assuming there is a rough idle?

Also, the rattling could be coming from either the exhaust, or the motor or transmission mount needs replacement.

Quick check to see if it is the mount - Place the car in drive, and while pressing the brake, slowly press the accelerator until you feel the car start lifting. If the engine lifts up a lot, then the mount is shot.
