Nissan Repair: Nissan Xterra, nissan xterra, competent mechanic

My daughter's Nissan Xterra has a code on her car --PO 125--coolant below threshhold. What could be the problem? Is it expensive to fix

Hi -

The code actually reads:

Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control

This means that when the engine is cold it either cannot read the engine temp, or the thermostat is missing or inoperative.

I would take it to a competent mechanic and have this check out, however it is not major nor will it affect driveability.
