Nissan Repair: 2002 maxima 3.5, engine knock, maxima

my maxima recently developed a noise sounds like a deisel truck, my girlfriend over filled w/oil (maybe as much as 1qt) what is the possible damage when over filling oil to that extent. thank you Brian

Hi Brian -

Normally overfilling by 1 quart will not do any damage, but should be drained out to normal levels.

The sound you hear, I am assuming is engine knock? Does it happen only up hills, or under acceleration, or while idling?
