Nissan Repair: steering rod gater, steering rack, rivet

how do you change a steering rod gater which is closes to the steering rack and has  abolt going through it

I need to know which car you are talking about.  I will assume you are discussing the isolation joint?  If so, a 12 millimeter to get the bolt off and then you will have to remove the rivets to get the assembly off.  Then replace yours and use the bolt where the rivet was.  Use Locktite blue on the bolt to keep it from walking off.
