QuestionI have a 2000 Nissan Maxima with 135,000 miles.
for the past couple months I've noticed that when i go to turn on the car, as i turn the key nothing happens and the car doesn't start. after the 2 or 3rd try, the car starts up fine.
Is that called a "misfire"?
anyways, what do i need to have checked out for a full tuneup?
what type of plugs should I get?
Your advise is appreciated
AnswerHector,
Yes, it sounds like a tuneup is in order. If the check engine light is on you will need that checked too. There is no fuel filter so this is just a matter of a tuneup with plugs, air filter and a PCV valve. I like Nippondenso platinum plugs so you get a good spark for a lot of miles. The 2000 Maxima had an issue with coils so if you get cylinder misfires you might have the coils checked. I have a 20000 Maxima SE and have replaced all of them. Also, I have replaced all of the oxygen sensors. The car runs like new with 142,000 miles on it. Now, if you are turning the key and nothing happens it is either a bad connection or the starter going out. I ahve replaced that too.
