Nissan Repair: Intermitent Starting???, battery cables, battery connections

Question
I recently bought a 94 Pathfinder SE 4x4
One day I went out to start it and it wouldnt start after about 1 day of tinkering with the battery/cables changing batteries it randomly started???
I drove it around for about 5mins and parked it and turned it off I immediatly tryed to start it and NOTHING!

I hear a single click but the engine dosnt turn over???
Please Help me!!

Hi Justin -

Try this test and get back to me:

With the headlights on, try starting the car.

1. If the headlights go really dim all of a sudden, or turn off, then it is the battery, or the battery connections (before condemning the battery, remove the terminals and clean them, and ensure all connections are tight. If you have a voltmeter, the battery must be no lower than 12V.

2. If there is little or no difference in the lights, then it is your starter. Try tapping the starter with a hammer. If it starts, then that would be a confirmation to replace the starter (Even though it starts at this point, replace the starter anyway)
