Nissan Repair: Terrano 11 2.7TD accelerator sensor, position sensor, accelerator

I have a problem with engine light coming on and associated loss of power-intermittent
Had the vehicle checked and reported a sensor fault in the accelerator position sensor.  Nissan has told me that I need to replace whole accelerator assembly.  Is there a less expensive option?

Other than finding a used one you are stuck with purchasing it as a unit.  Not my favourite design where they integrate things.  You could check the internet for a cheaper price than they are charging.  But, they will need to have the computer re-learn the new unit regardless from where it comes from.
