QuestionGood day Mr Iwashita,
I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder, the service engine light came on a few days ago, I took it to Autozone and they pulled the codes, shows as P0442, one of the items was the gas cap, I replaced since that was replaced once before, no change, the other was the purge valve, do I need to clear the error after changing the gas cap? or should it clear itself and I should be looking at the other possibility?
Thank you,
Lee
AnswerHi Lee -
Were there other codes besides the PO442? PO442 is EEC (Evaporative Emission Control)small leak, so it could be the fuel cap, a lot of times it is just loose. The purge valve usually has its own code, maybe PO443, PO444, or PO445, I think.
Yes, it helps to clear the codes after components are replaced.
PLease let me know if there were other codes.
Hope this helps -
aloha
