Nissan Repair: Cat. Converter, cat converter, autozone

2000 Sentra GXE 1.8 Engine light stays on. Took it to emissions, failed something about Cat.Converter. Take it to the garage and they want $2250 without labor to fix the problem. Is this a normal price. Is there something else I should be telling you. Any information would be helpful Calvin! Thanks....

Hi Colin -

Sounds outrageous to me. I would need the code that they downloaded off the engine's computer - it is a POxxx number. Also, while you are speaking to the people you went to, ask them for a written estimate of the repair.

Also helps for a 2nd opinion. Autozone does a pretty good job.

Even if it is the replacement of the catalytic converter, should be way less than $1,000 including labor.
