will the trans from a 1990 pathfinder fit on a 1996 pathfinder they are both automatic 4x4

I think the will.  But, check with the wrecing yard for ther interchange book to be sure.  Als, be sure the harness connector is the same since the 1990 is pre-OBDII.  This means you will probably need to change the valve body to the original one in the vehicle for it to shift properly.
