QuestionQUESTION: The fuel pump fuse pops out right after I turn the ignition on. just replaced a fuel pump and fuel filter. Will replace the relay.
What else can cause the problem? I checked the wiring around the fuel pump. Looks alright.
When I disconnect the harness on the fuel pump the fuse is fine with ignition on.
If it is short to ground, where to look for it?
Thank you!
ANSWER: Hi Russell -
Is there a way you can disconnect just the fuel pump wire going into the tank? I suspect the wire lead is grounded at the fuel pump. Perhaps the terminal is touching the frame of the pump. Because the fuse blows immediately, you have a direct short. I would remove the pump and inspect the wiring.

QUESTION: Hi Calvin,
Thanks for your advise!
I replaced the fuel pump (it was a second one). Also I checked the wires around it and replaced wires inside the tank.
As soon as the fuel line is loaded the fuse pops out.
I started the car for the first time and it run for couple minutes. Then I tried to start it again and no luck.
I did not replace the relay yet, but I think there won't be any difference after I do that.
Any other recomendations?
Thanks
AnswerHi Russell -
The harness you disconnected, where exactly is it? The short has to be past that, that is why I am saying fuel pump, or adjacent wiring. You would have to trace from the harness and work backwards, then you should find it.
