Nissan Repair: 97 Altima starter, solenoid, altima
QuestionMy starter has slowly been getting worst, I checked my clutch interlock switch & relay. All power & grounds are good. Now it won't make any noise like the solenoid is bad. Can the solenoid be replaced or should I go with the whole starter. It is only 2.5 years old. Are there just 2 bolts holding the starter in, what do I need to replace it? Thanks for your help!
AnswerBarry,
Rebuilds are not as robust as new starters and you probably have a starter that was partially rebuilt. That is, they only fix what is bad and clean it up and resell it. I would test the starter first, before replacement. You can get a length of wire and jump the starter, be sure the car is in neutral. And, you will know for sure.
