Nissan Repair: 1999 nissan sentra muffler, nissan sentra, hose clamps

lets start off saying im broke. the pipe that connects to the muffler rusted off cleanly. so it rattles everytime i slow down or come to a stop. i know you are probably going to say to have it done by a professional but i need a temporary fix till the summer is over. i have some mighty putty. do you think this will hold and not smell or smoke?

You could get a can and a couple of hose clamps to get it back together.  There is such a thing as muffler tape that you could use to cover the patch.  Mighty Putty will not work since there is heat involved.  Muffler tape works at the higher temperature.  But, I would get the pipe replaced down the road as soon as you can...
