I received your answer about the possible fuse flown.
I will take all your advice into the vehicle.
But one extra thing is that: when I put the scanner tool in the code reader.... the scanner goes blank/dead face. WOW!!! that is serious. I changed batteries in the scanner and it read just the same dead/blank window on scanner face.
What could cause that and is it related to the van fuse problem.

Some scanners will not work with certain cars.  I have six scanners, four of which are OBD and OBD II compliant.  Of these I end up using different scanners on different cars.  Further, I even have a couple of cars that I have to use one scanner to read codes and another to clear the check engine light.
