overheating problem should i check thermostat first.  If so, where is it located on motor  thankyou

Yes, the thermostat is the first thing to replace.  And the radiator cap.  Also, check that the radiator is unobstructed and that the system is clean inside.  Usually, the waterpump starts to leak and the system looses pressure.  Then, the thermostat is cooked and the system needs to be addressed as a whole.
