Nissan Repair: 1996 Maxima halfshaft installation problem, circlip, spline

I am in the middle of installing a new halfshaft and had no problems except I can not get shaft to go in far enough for the circlip on the shaft to slip in groove on side gear.    
The halfshaft will pull out with no problem.  I am about 1/4" to 3/8"  short of the halfshaft seating. Any suggestions.

Hi Doyle -

The half shaft is supposed to snap right in, as long as you are inserting it flush and straight.

Inspect the "C" clip at the transmission end for damages. A little grease there and along the spline will help. Sometimes I have to remove and insert it a few times. You will get it!!!
