Nissan Repair: Emergency Brake Cable Jammed, nissan maxima se, nissan maxima

I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima Se. I used the emergency brake while parked on a steep hill. The cable seems to be jammed after I released it before pulling away. You can hear the rear brakes grinding when I start pulling out. What has happened?

Hi Bill -

Remove the wheels and drums on the rear brakes and inspect the brake shoes for wear and binding against the backing plate. There are 3 contact areas that need to be greased (be careful not to get grease on the lining).

Also check the brake cable for binding.
