Nissan Repair: no code reading, nissan dealership, autozone
QuestionLeaving politics out of it. The distributor was replaced by a mechanic and now I have a check engine light that won't stay off. Taking it to more than one parts place to be sure they get a checking response but no response from the computer. I have checked all of the fuses that the manual says is connected to the computer and none are blown.
I will ask the mechanic only as a last resort as it will only cause an in law dispute. Their mechanic didn't want to believe that the distributor was bad even after I stated that I knew what the problem was. As to what all he messed with I have no clue.
AnswerDon,
I hate to say it but you need to bite the bullet and go to a Nissan dealership and get the code read with a Consult II scantool. That way you can get the code read and verify what is going on. Some aftermarket scanners will not work with a Nissan. You could try another Autozone or Checker and you might get lucky. But, if not go to a dealer and pay the $100 bucks for a scan and resolve the issue.
