Is the water pump covered under the original warranty.

This is something you have to take up with the dealer. I assume you have had the car since new. Was any extended warranty purchased? Each dealer may have different parameters of what is covered, however I do not think the water pump is on an extended warranty, but as I mentioned you might want to check -
