Nissan Repair: (i)(p)brake light, brake fluid, brake pads

Question
For one week a red light that says (i)(p)brake has been on steady.  What is the (i)(p)brake?

I did not get the make and model of your vehicle, however, usually that light serves several functions:

1. Brake fluid level is low
2. Brake pads need replacing
3. ABS (if so equipped) malfunctioning
4. Loss of pressre in the brake system
5. One of the brake lights are out
