Nissan Repair: charging system, haynes manual, external voltage

the alternator will not charge untill you rev the motor. The alnternator is new. Is there a external voltage regulater? this is on 1992 nisan pu with a 2400.

Either the voltage regulator is defective or the alternator is defective.  You will need the vehicle put on a system to test output.  Autozone or Checker will perform a free electrical inspection and let you know which one it is.  If you have a Haynes Manual there is a procedure to ground the regulator to see what alternator output is.
