Nissan Repair: 2003 Maxima- drivers power window, lithium grease, wd 40
QuestionA safety feature prevents the window from closing if it detects an object blocking it's path. My window goes to the top and then returns about 1/3 of the way- as if something is blocking it's path. To close it I have to use short button movements until I inch it to the top. Is there some type of pressure adjustment for the safety feature or a detector in the track that may need cleaning?
AnswerMike,
Sounds like the track and guides are dry and need lubrication. I would remove the door panel and Armorall the rubber tracks and use lithium grease on the guide and regulator along with WD-40 to get things freed up. The window motor is a stepper motor and as such it will sense the dry condition as an obstruction and back the window down.
