Nissan Repair: Trouble with 2005 XTerra Bose CD player, stereo shop, 400 bucks

It's a great vehicle, ,new to me...37,000 miles Model SE. The first time I put in a CD into the 6-CD unit, it says, "check disc". But the radio works great. Do I have to junk it, or can it be cleaned or repaired?

The CD unit is a Clarion and it is known to have this problem.  You can get it repaired at a stereo shop that specializes in this sort of thing or just replace it with an aftermarket unit.  The cost for each will be somewhere around $400 bucks either way.  Your choice...
