Nissan Repair: Engine cuts out, mass airflow sensor, air control valve
QuestionHello. I have a 90' infinite Q45 and it cuts out at a stop if I dont warm it up for a long time. even after i warm it up it sometimes dies out at stops or while putting the car in reverse. is it hard/a lot to fix? and what exactly is wrong?
AnswerMatthew,
It is probably the mass airflow sensor or the idle air control valve. You are going to need to get a book to show you the process of checking the codes since yours is pre-OBDII and that means that you have to check the codes on the on board computer. The systems that I described are tested using a digital volt ohm meter and the process is pretty easy. Get a Haynes Manual as it has the codes and how to read them along with the test procedures for the two devices I described. Again, a pretty easy repair since both would be a plug and play job.
