Nissan Repair: 95 sentra transmission problem, forward gears, transmission shop

I have a 95 sentra with 1.6 automatic RL4F03A the problem is it only has reverse and first gear and it will not shift even manually

I am pretty sure the transmission is locked in second when you are in forward gears and this means it is in limp mode.  I would take it to Cottman or your choice of transmission shop and have them run a computer diagnostics on it to see what is going on.  The transmission does this to protect itself.
