Nissan Repair: Nissan Pathfinder Dashboard brake light, emergency brake lever, nissan pathfinder

1997 nissan pathfinder emergency brake light my dash board emergency light won't go out i have released the brake but the light  remains on and has been on for days.  I checked the brake fluid and the reserve is full.  How can I make sure the emergency brake lever is compressing the pin to make the light go off?  Any suggestions why this is happening?

Check the parking brake switch to make sure the pin depresses all the way.  If that is not the problem the master cylinder is defective and the pressure switch is showing an imbalance.  So, you see, the light does two things.  First, for the parking brake and second for the master cylinder.
