It,s my girlfriend daughter car.Will be going to San Jose tomorrow to look at.Car been sitting for about 8 months.She said got car stared while driven car began hesitate and stared smoking from tailpipe. And finally quite. wouldn't start. Having car towed to here house

Check the fuel pressure to make sure the fuel pump works properly.  If the fuel pump is working properly then check the oil for proper level and make sure that the oil was changed recently.  I say this since you need to make sure that a headgasket has not blown.
