Nissan Repair: automatic transmission of nissan sentra 1996 model, nissan sentra, smooth as silk

Question
When the automatic transmission shifts from first to second there is a strong knock or thud but from second upwards it is as smooth as silk. What could be the problem. Hope you can help. Thanks.

You probably need to have the flywheel resurfaced. I don't know if they do that with automatics. I think a lot of cars have thumping transmissions. usually people just sort of tolerate it because it could go forever making that noise. It is annoying but the car could easily run for a very long time.
