Nissan Repair: Nissan 200SX Transmission, nissan 200sx, eage

I have the 1.6l with a 5 speed. I can shift through gears 1-4 but 5th gear will not go in. I suspect I've destroyed the syncro. Is this a hard repair? Should I just have the whole tranny rebuilt. Anything would help because My wonderful fuel mi;eage has gone to poo... Thanks in advance!

Rebuilding the transmission would cost somewhere around $1000 bucks plus the labor to remove and reinstall.  ALso, a clutch would be a good idea to replace while the transmission is out.  A wrecking yard transmission is a cost effective option at around $500 plus labor for the install.
