Nissan Repair: 2000 Maxima no start, crank angle sensor, negative cable
QuestionProblem began at 4oK miles. Now 50K miles. Most times care refuses to start. Been to dealer 4 tmes at $2500. They say electrical ground problem. Have replace 3 starting sensors, knock sensor harness, 2 alternators, 2 starters, 1 02 sensor, battery. All within 2 years, 10K miles. Dealer (& Nissan ) suggest removing tranny, cleaning contact area mating to block. Gives it an 80% chance of success. If doesn't work, then so sorry. Nissan support really sucks. Any ideas?
AnswerTrueman,
There would be no need to take the transmission out. If they suspect a bad ground all you need is a grounding kit from the starter to the negative cable of the battery. The cable would connect to one of the bolts that hold the starter to the transmission bellhousing. I would get a test light to see if that is the problem or if you have a defective crank angle sensor.
