Nissan Repair: 94 Maxima Transmission, gasket, home today

Question
I was driving home today and all of a sudden my car started hitting 5 and 6 RPMs.  I pulled over and when I tried to go again I had lost D, R and all of my other gears.  I checked my fluid and it is just about out.  I may have burnt out the transmission, but is there a chance it is just lacking fluid?  Thank you.

you may get lucky here.  drop the tranny pan and replace the filter and use rtv or a replacement gasket.  refill with fluid to the appropriate level and you may be ok.  you could have had a leaky gasket all along and this may fix your problem altogether but i would check where your leak is coming from.  good luck and let me know how this turns out for you.
