where is the thermostat located in a 1992 nissan maxima?

Follow the upper hose to the engine and you will find the thermostat.  Be sure to purchase a Nissan unit as these are the best and last the longest.  Just my personal experience speaking here.  If you cannot get a factory one get a Robert Shaw.  Stant and those like it are not worth the trouble.
