Nissan Repair: Engine misfire, nissan sentra, engine misfire
QuestionI have a 1994 Nissan Sentra SE 1.6L with 187000 miles on it. Over the last couple of months the engine has developed a miss in the #2 cylinder. If the engine is cold, then the miss is not there. After i drive it a little while and get the temperature up and stop the engine for a while, I will start it up and it will have a miss. Sometimes the miss goes away after a couple of minutes. Sometimes it does not go away. I have replaced the sparkplugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor bug. Is this a problem that can be solved with a replacement of the coil, or is there another problem I am not aware of?
AnswerMatt,
The coil might do it. But, I would check for compression on that cylinder to be sure it is not a briken ring or a burnt valve. If the ring lines up with another and the gaps are in the same position it will cause this as well as a burnt valve that lines up with the defect in the seat. So, check the compression before you purchase a coil.
